Councilor Cedric J. Norman was born to Cedric Dale and LaBrenda Hall Norman. He is the eldest of three siblings, with two younger sisters, Evin and Melanie. A lifelong resident of Fairfield, Alabama, Cedric is a proud graduate of the Fairfield City School System. Over the past 15 years, he has combined hands-on community service with executive-level leadership in education, technology, and civic engagement, delivering measurable results for families in Fairfield.
Cedric holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Marketing and Communication Studies, as well as an MBA from the University of Montevallo, where he served as Student Government President. He is currently completing a doctorate in Higher Education Administration at the University of Alabama, focusing on equitable access and workforce development, research that informs his vision for strengthening Fairfield.
His professional achievements reflect this vision in action. As the Assistant Director of Student Life at the University of Montevallo, Cedric launched impactful mentorship and intercultural programs, significantly improving the retention rates of first-generation students. At Miles College, he advanced to the position of Director of Information Technology, where he modernized campus infrastructure, installed a $2 million Avigilon public safety camera network, and negotiated vendor contracts. He plans to bring this experience to City Hall to enhance local services.
Cedric was appointed to the Fairfield City Council in 2019 and elected to a full term in 2020. During his tenure, he has overhauled the city's website, developed a policy for street dedication, and is currently leading efforts to revitalize Willie Mays Park.
Beyond Fairfield, Cedric has led statewide civic engagement initiatives as the Alabama State Director and later Deputy Director of National Programs for Woke Vote during the record-breaking 2020 election cycle. His efforts registered thousands of new voters and ensured that underrepresented communities' voices were heard on the national stage.
Cedric’s campaign for mayor is built on three key promises:
1. Safer streets through smart policing and community partnerships.
2. Stronger schools and youth programs that prepare students for 21st-century careers.
3. A modern, service-oriented city government that empowers small businesses and revitalizes historic neighborhoods.
Additionally, Cedric is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
